Soccer, futsal, running, and chess: Tour-Sport's growth challenges for 2025-2026
The Valencian company supports its tournaments through its sporting, tourism, and experiential pillars, as well as its internationalization
Experience. A vocation for invigorating sports and sports tourism. And excellence. The Valencian company Tour-Sport Promociones Deportivas faces consolidated and growing challenges and projects for the remainder of the 2025 season and beyond. The company, led by its CEOs Fernando Brotons and Daniel Artíguez, has a significant track record since its inception with the launch of the Costa Blanca Cup in 1994. Since then, in addition to turning the aforementioned international grassroots soccer tournament into a benchmark event with more than thirty years of history, it has taken on projects in the world of popular running, chess, and new soccer events. And that's what the tournament's focus is on after overcoming the hot August.
Chronologically, the first event will arrive this fall with the Benidorm Chess Open. Once again, as in 2024, from October 25th to November 2nd, this will be the opportunity to continue the growth of this international chess tournament, which will take place at the Meliá Benidorm Hotel. A chess event valid for FIDE ELO and with international standards, it will feature an Open A (SUPRA 1800) and Open B (SUB 2000) tournament, as well as a 9-round Swiss (90' + 30") - III Emilio Pellicer Memorial, with a prize fund of 25,510 euros. Just twenty days later, on November 22nd, it will be time for the running world to renew its presence with the Benidorm Half 2025, featuring two distances: 21K and 10K, crisscrossing the skyline of the quintessential tourist city. The organizers will continue to focus on the participation of elite and semi-elite athletes, seeking to make a new leap in this regard. They will aim to break their own record for overall participation, which in November 2024 reached 6,500 runners from 25 different countries. A notable achievement is that 43.1% of the participants came to Spain from a specific country, the United Kingdom. More information at: https://benidormhalf.com/.
The next step will set the next dates in the red for Easter in 2026. It will be time for the sixth edition of the Valencia Cup Girls, which will take place from April 2 to 5, maintaining the commitment to international grassroots women's football, which is actually linked to the Costa Blanca Cup, which has already featured women's football categories since 1994. A new edition will feature categories from F8 and F11 to U-19, and the Legends Match will be held, with the participation of first-team and leading figures in women's football. The organization seeks to surpass the forty teams from last season and continue growing internationally, in addition to surpassing the five countries represented by 2025. From now on, in 2026, everything will continue along the same lines as football between the master and youth levels. First, it will be time for the veterans. Both tournaments will take place within a short period of time, but both will be held on the Mediterranean coast. The Catalunya Masters Cup (more information at: https://www.catalunyamasterscup.com/es/) will continue in Lloret de Mar over the weekend of May 29-31, followed by the Benidorm Masters Cup, from June 5-7; more information at: https://www.benidormmasterscup.com/en/.
July will host the traditional Costa Blanca Cup. First, from July 1-5, will be the 21st edition of the international youth futsal tournament. This will then lead into the 32nd edition of the football championship, which will be held from July 5-11. Maintaining the growth trend, with more than six thousand footballers from almost thirty different countries passing through the Marina Baja and Marina Alta, will be one of the challenges. Increasing the participation of women's teams, maintaining the sporting, experiential, tourism, and international pillars, and securing greater institutional and private support are the challenges for this new edition.
